Whether the paintings are categorized as abstract or figurative, the act of “filling up the surface” is seen as the common trait. In that sense, creation of any kind of paintings begins with the act of artists painting pictures and ends after going through overall process.

However, for most of the time “paintings” are referred as the “painted images on surfaces” in general, and this inevitable processes of painting the subjects are often unregarded.
With the question towards the definition of “paintings,” the exhibition features 4 up-and-coming painters: Shinya Imanishi, Kazuya Sakamoto, Mio Yamato and Arisa Kumagai.
